Bregenz's local mountain towers over the city at 1,064 metres, offering panoramas of three countries across the lake in one direction and the Bregenzerwald in the other. As well as hiking, there’s also a smooth ride up in an ultra-modern cable car, which silently climbs up to the most beautiful vantage point on Lake Constance in a matter of minutes. The cabins comfortably carry 80 passengers, including 9 seats, with easily accessible entry and exit. The cable car departs on the hour and half hour, but for groups of 10 or more, trips every 15 minutes, or even every 6 minutes are possibly if required. On request, groups can also arrange special evening rides until 11 pm to take in the night-time views.
At the peak, a 30-minute walk leads through the Alpine Wildpark, which is freely accessible and home to ibex, wild boar, marmots, red deer, dwarf hares and many other animals. Several gastronomic establishments offer refreshments and local delicacies such as Kässpätzle.
