Vorarlberg has a long and proud history of beer brewing. In fact, in years gone by almost every inn brewed its own beer. A number of these traditional breweries are still active today, such as the Fohrenburger brewery in Bludenz (since 1881), the Mohren brewery in Dornbirn (since 1834), the Egg brewery (since 1892) and the Frastanz brewery cooperative (since 1902). Their beer specialities are known and appreciated well beyond Vorarlberg's borders.
